July 21, 2001 - Storm Lake, Storm Lake, Iowa
26 teams fished in the tournament, those 26 teams weighed-in 89 Catfish. Those 89 Catfish weighed a total of 242.66 pounds. The weather in Storm Lake was cool (82 degrees), with no humidity, a perfect night for fishing. However a little shower after sun up didn't dampen our spirits. Most fish weighed-in were of the smaller variety, 5 to 8 lb fish were plentiful the night before our tournament. Fishing had been excellent for several weeks, that is until we arrived on the lake for our tournament. There were only 4 teams that didn't weigh-in fish.

1st Place: honors went to Barney and Don Maeder from Corning, Iowa with their 6 fish limit. The fish weighed in at 24.92 pounds.

2nd Place: team of Darrell and Matt Carter caught 6 fish for a total weight of 24.66 pounds. The team is from Jefferson, South Dakota.

3rd Place: team of Dana Liddick and Josh Andrews from Council Bluffs, Iowa with their 6 fish limit, for a total weight of 20.08 pounds.

July 7, 2001 - Viking Lake Tournament Results
33 teams participated in the Viking Lake Tournament, catching and weighing in 77 Catfish. Those 77 fish weighed-in at 310.52 pounds. Some nice fish were weighed in, several in the 12, 10, 9, 8 and 7 pound range. One very nice 20.16 lb Channel was caught by Bill Wilson from Co. Bluffs, Iowa this is our largest Catfish we've weighed since starting the Club. Bill almost went for a swim when the 20 pound channel hit his line, coming very close to pulling him out of the boat. A special permit was issued so that we could fish this lake at night, the lake is normally closed to night fishing.

First Place went to Bill Gofta from Omaha, Nebraska and Jason Gofta from Co. Bluffs, Iowa with 38.08 pounds.

Second Place team of Theo Hudson from Bellevue, Nebraska and Shawn Harris from Co. Bluffs, Iowa with 29.12 pounds.

Big Fish went to Bill Wilson from Co. Bluffs, Iowa with a very nice 20.16 pound Channel Cat earning him $430

June 30, 2001 - Carter Lake, IA
42 teams entered the tournament at Carter Lake, a very good turn out for a
first time tournament lake. A total of 74 Catfish were weighed-in for the
event. Those 74 fish weighed-in at 144.42 pounds. The 82 degree water
temperature made keeping the fish live for the weigh-in difficult. One team
lost a 12 to 15 pound Cat during the night and couldn't weigh it in. To
weigh in a dead fish it must have previously been marked by a tournament
official during the night while still alive.

After sign-up was competed a large Flathead was weighed on our certified
scale. The Flathead had been previously caught on the Missouri River that
day. The Missouri River Flathead weighed in at 45.24 pounds and was released
into Carter Lake after weighing. I didn't get the name of the gentleman but
I did get a picture.

1st Place: honors went to Terry L. Nath from Omaha and Terry J. Nath from
Lavista, Nebraska with 5 fish weighing 23.92 pounds.

2nd Place: of Scott Edmonds and Evert Witlesey from Carter Lake, Iowa
weighing in 3 fish totaling 14.58 pounds.

3rd Place: team of Mark Lincoln and Abe Lincoln weighed in 5 fish for a total
of 10.50 pounds.

BIG FISH TROPHY: of the tournament went to Terry L. Nath from Omaha, Nebraska
weighing 10.12 pounds. The team of Nath and Nath had a $772 pay day.

June 16, 2001 - Mozingo Lake, Maryville, MO
33 teams entered the Mozingo tournament, with 70 Catfish being weighed in. Those 70 Catfish weighed-in at 341 pounds. Big Fish for the tournament weighed in at 10.34 pounds, the team also placed 1st and had a $608 payday.
Storms surrounded us all night but the weather was pleasant and stayed dry during the tournament. Our sponsor Big Bird's Bait Shop put on a pancake feed Sunday morning for the contestants.

June 2, 2001 - 12 Mile Lake near Creston, Iowa.
Our first night tournament of the year drew interest from the 45 teams that signed on. The fishing was somewhat slow but 49 Catfish were weighed in for the event. Those 49 Catfish weighed in at 90.28 pounds, only two of those 45 teams weighed in their 6 fish limit. Fishing weather for the night was almost perfect, a little cool with a very calm breeze. North fronts going through during the week seemed to slow the fishing activity considerably. 12 Mile usually out produces most of our tournament lakes with 5 and 6 pound fish being the norm with some 12 to 14 pound fish being weighed in.

1st place honors went to the Council Bluffs team of Dana Liddick and Josh Andrews with 6 Cat weighing in at 11.98 pounds.

2nd place team Jerry Smith and Jim Salmons managed a 10.40-pound weigh in with 5 Catfish. The team is from Council Bluffs, Iowa.

3rd place team is from Omaha, Nebraska. Mark Lincoln and Abe Lincoln weighed in 6 Catfish for a total weight of 10.38 pounds for the tournament.

Big fish trophy of the tournament went to John Straka from Council Bluffs, Iowa. John pulled in a 5.74-pound Catfish that earned him a very nice trophy and $540. The team finished 4th in the tournament.

TEAM OF THE YEAR Dana Liddick and Josh Andrews from Council Bluffs are in the lead for team of the year with 21.54 pounds.

May 12, 2001 at 3 Mile Lake near Afton, Iowa
27 teams signed up to fish the event, catching a total of only 5 Catfish.  Only 4 teams managed to weigh in fish.  Since we pay down 10 places 6 placements had to be drawn for.  Recent weather pattern changes greatly slowed down the numbers of fish caught for the tournament.  Too make maters even worse it rained from 3 PM thorough the weigh-in.  A 12 year old new comer Scott Green took home the big fish trophy and $350.  Scott fished with his dad Jeff, the duo also managed a 2nd place placement for the tournament. Thanks to Metro Commercial Residential Improvement from Council Bluffs for sponsoring us.

1st Place went to Jeff Linkenhoker from Thurman, Iowa and George Dishong from Shenandoah, Iowa with 2 Cat weighing in at 8.72 pounds.  The honor earned them $160 and a pair of very nice trophies.

2nd Place went to Jeff Green and Scott Green from Malvern, Iowa with a 6.50 pound Cat that earned them $130 and 2 nice trophies.

3rd Place placement went to Sam Richey from Corning, Iowa and Travis Bums from Council Bluffs, Iowa with a 5.06 pound Catfish.  The duo earned $97 and a nice trophy for their placement.

BIG FISH of the tournament went to Scott Green from Malvern, Iowa paying out $350 and earning him a very large trophy for his efforts.

Our next Tournament will be at 2 Mile Lake near Creston, Iowa.  This lake out produces all other lakes at our tournaments. At 2 tournaments last year we had 58 entries and 79 entries at the lake.

A front went through Friday night, Saturday was partly cloudy and windy. Fishing was extremely slow and only 8 Channel Cat were weighed in for the tournament. Only 6 teams caught fish, since we pay out 10 places 4 of those placements had to be drawn for. In all 21 trophies were given out.
