Report from Central Divisional:
Larry attended the Divisional at Lake of the Ozarks on June 2 through
June 7th. The tournament was headquartered at Millstone Lodge, which is located between Horseshoe Bend and the Gravois arm. The significance of the location, all the BIG boats run up and down the lake right past this area. The Kansas team worked really well together this year, we shared lots of information on places, cover, location and baits. I think it helped each of us and it really makes you wonder what the fish are doing when 12 guys are catching fish in different structure, on various baits, etc.
The first tournament day it rained, I drew out with a young man from
Louisiana. We decided that we were fishing the same stuff so went
another direction on the main lake because the BIG boats were going to
stay home as log as it rained. We fished main lake points and rock
piles with crank baits and worms (red of course). Both of us weighed in
a good limit. I led the Kansas team the first day and was in 11th
overall.
Day 2, I drew a Missouri man that fishes LOZ a lot, but never from mid
May to mid September. He said he was on early fish behind the docks so
we went to them, my point fish would stay around all day. The dock bite
never materialized, we finished the day on points fighting the wakes. I
did not have a limit but the fish were chunks and I was only 2 ozs out
of first and 15th overall.
Day 3 I had a partner from Oklahoma that let me go anywhere I wanted so
I went brain dead. We had two good fish off points early, then lots of
14 7/8 inchers. The lake was coming up and I had found fish in some
weeds during practice in 12" of water. I was within 2 miles of the
biggest weed bed around and just messed up by not remembering or going
to the weeds. Finished 3ed on the Kansas team and 27th overall. Mark
McCurdy from Hutch is going to national in Virginia next year.
Anna had a great time, I had a great time. I will try to make the team
again but odds get worse each year with lots of good young anglers
working for a slot on the team.

Mr. BASS
Cedar Bluff, site of the 2002 Kansas Federation Mr. BASS tournament gave
up a 5 fish limit of 28.28 to Ray Osburn. Ray did this with 30-40 mph
winds with gusts to unknown, and 98 deg. temperatures. The water color
changed every 30 foot. He beat out the second place finisher by 10
pounds. Ray rigged secondary points with red worms to catch this
remarkable limit of fish. Ray is now the number one boater on the 2003
divisional team fishing at Cedar Bluff. The future of Kansas
Bassmasters champions has been cast; we now are looking for a 3-peat
from our 2002 winner.
Ray did this fishing against 22 of the best club fisherman in the state.

June Tournament:
Our June tournament was held at Truman reservoir with great conditions
