Fishing prospects, walleye techniques, hotspots, and aquatic nuisance   species covered
  Feb. 9, 2011 - PRATT — Want to know where and how to catch fish in   Kansas reservoirs? Attend one of several events hosted by the Kansas Department   of Wildlife and Parks (KDWP) in late winter. Called Fishing Information Nights,   the events will feature experts on fishing and focus on fishing prospects,   techniques, and locations. One event will also feature proven angling tactics   for walleye. 
                    The first event — the “Fifth Annual Region 2 Fish Night” — will take place   Feb. 18 at Southwest Junior High Auditorium, 2511 Inverness Drive in Lawrence.   The event will last from 7 p.m. to 9:30 p.m. Fisheries biologists Leonard Jirak   (Melvern Reservoir), Richard Sanders (Clinton Reservoir), Ely Sprenkle (Tuttle   Creek Reservoir), Andy Jansen (Hillsdale Reservoir), and Kirk Tjelmeland (Perry   Reservoir) will present overviews of area reservoir fisheries and local smaller   lakes of interest.                   The second event will take place on Feb. 22 from 7 p.m. to 9:30 p.m. in Fort   Hays State University Memorial Union's Black and Gold Room, 700 College Drive in   Hays. A special presentation on the construction and development of Horsethief   Reservoir, near Jetmore, will be featured. Introductory speakers include Steve   Price, Region 1 fisheries supervisor, and Lynn Maska of the Department of Health   and Human Performance at Ft. Hays State. District fisheries biologists Tommie   Berger and Scott Waters will follow with fishing forecasts for Glen Elder,   Kanopolis, and Wilson reservoirs. Horsethief Reservoir manager Josh Hobbs and   district fisheries biologist Lowell Aberson will present the latest news on this   new reservoir. The night will be rounded off with fishing forecasts for Cedar   Bluff, Kirwin, Sebelius, and Webster reservoirs by fisheries biologists Mark   Shaw and Dave Spalsbury. 
                  On Feb. 24 from 7 p.m. to 9 p.m., a Fishing Information Night will be held in   the Large Theatre at the Kansas Highway Patrol Training Center, 2025 East Iron   Avenue in Salina. Introductory remarks by Price will be followed by fishing   forecasts for Glen Elder and Lovewell reservoirs from Berger, and Milford   Reservoir from biologist John Reinke. Walleye fishing tips and tactics will be   presented by Kendall Strutt, Lund Pro Staffer and Kansas Walleye Association   2010 state champion.
