Poulter and Athon win Special Olympics Kansas Crappie Tournament
April 20, 2013 - Lawrence, KS - Dennis Poulter and Craig Athon outfished 42 other teams in a tough day of fishing in the Special Olympics Kansas Crappie Tournament held Saturday, April 20 at Clinton Lake. Several of the teams brought in only one or two crappie.
The water temperature was 48 degrees with a brisk wind around 15 to 20 mph out of the southeast in the later morning hours and early afternoon.
First place was Dennis Poulter and Craig Athon with 9 crappie, total weight of 6.58 lbs.
Second place was Ron Meeder and Shawn Pecenka with 9 crappie, total weight 5.60 lbs.
Third place was Chris Stimac and Scott Custer with 7 crappie, total weight 5.33 lbs.
Big crappie was the team of Sam Hutfles/Bob Kuckleman, 1.55 lbs.
Cash prizes were paid out to 6 teams. Several gifts were given away. A K-State football autographed by Bill Snyder was auctioned off for $500.00.
Proceeds went to benefit Special Olympics athletes.
The event organizers want to thank all of those that turned out to fish and for making the tournament a successful event.
