Dec. 15, 2001 - Hillsdale - Fished Hillsdale lake last Saturday (15-Dec-01) with my Dad for crappie. The water temperature was 43 degrees F. We fished an area out of the strong Southeast wind near the boat ramp by the Little Bull bridge. There were fish showing up on the locator throughout the water column, but the only
ones that would bite were right on the bottom, or just up a little, in 20 -
25 feet. There were quite a few other boats in the area, but everyone
seemed to be catching fish. The action wasn't real hot. It was best early,
then tapered off at about 10:30 a.m. to nothing by 2:00 p.m. The fish
averaged from 9" - 10", with an occasional larger or smaller one. We ended
up with just 11 that were 10" (self-imposed limit), or better, but we didn't
get as early of a start as would be desired, since I had to make the drive
up from Wichita that morning. My Dad and I will probably be out a couple
more times around Christmas, when I am home for the Holidays. Good fishing
and Merry Christmas to all! Tony Cook Wichita

Nov. 7, 2001 - Kingman County State Lake - Today was a beautiful day to fish. Not too much wind. I caught a couple of chunky 16 inch fish and a few smaller than that. One northern pike. The lake is super low. I am not a regular there, but it is down at least two feet from the last time I was there. The deepest water I found in the lake was about 4.5 feet. The water is very clear. If anybody knows which rock jettie is the best for channel cat, please post and let me know. G. Croomes

Nov. 5, 2001 - Wilson - Fished Wilson this weekend in the lucas park area and caught over 30 stripers between 4 and 10 lbs. using live shad fished between 32 and 36 feet. The fish were moving all the time and hard to stay on but when you got on them they were hungry. Jack Hoskinson Madd Jack Striper Guide

Nov. 4, 2001 - Wilson - November 1,2, 2001 Lake Wilson: The stripers are starting to school for their pre-winter feeding. Fished both days, using live bait over the road
beds, boating 8 stripers between 5 @ 9lbs, and missing many more. There were
several other boats catching good fish. Maddjack had clients out and they
were very sucessful. I'll be back on the lake Sunday and have another report
Monday. Good fishing!!! Nailbender

Oct. 30, 2001 - Wilson - October 30, 2001 Fished Lake Wilson, but had to fish from the bank as the wind was to strong for safe boating. Did manage to land a 16lb striper using 4" sassy shad. The fall run is about to begin, good fishing. Nailbender
