WATER LEVEL - Not Available at this time... Normal Pool 915' Pool last year on this date: 905.20 DAM AREA, KIMBERLING, BAXTER, CAMPBELL POINT The deep bite was on.... I don't know what happened to it. Normally the colder it gets the better the deep bite gets. There have been a few fish being caught deep on 3"-4" grubs, on 1/4 oz. & 3/8 oz. jig heads, also tube baits, and the best colors I have found are smoke, salt & pepper, blue gill, or watermelon. Drop shot rigs with the same bait or try 4" worms. I was using Zoom finesse worms in watermelon red, and their meathead worm in salt & pepper, chrome & white jigging spoons, on long sloping gravel points, main lake and secondary points, 40'-70' deep. In the past week I think a lot of the fish have sucked down and holding tight on the bottom. They have not been showing up on the electronics as they were. I believe the deep bite will be back but it was nearly non-existent this weekend. I ended up moving up into the rivers the past 3 days... UPPER JAMES RIVER , KING'S RIVER, & LONG CREEK We went from the main lake into the rivers, still not much success. Friends of ours fishing tournament this week end and they said they caught their fish up in the rivers on wood, with jigs, and they had good limits. We were catching some stickbait fish in the Aunt's Creek area, on main lake and secondary points with submerged timber in 10'-15'. Try some crankbaits between these same trees and the bank. 2'-10'- wigglewarts, bombers, bandits, crawdad patterns. Work these baits real slow. by Pete's Professional Guide Service Fishing is still tough on artificial lures, but should pick
up now that The James River Arm has been the most productive. The majority
of the Oct 2, 2000 - Table Rock - WATER LEVEL - 909.33 Normal Pool 915' Pool last year on this date: 907.10 DAM AREA, KIMBERLING, BAXTER, CAMPBELL POINT We have been using some jigging spoons 20'-30' deep on main lake points in the main lake and the James River. Fish can be caught on 1/4 oz.-3/8 oz. spinnerbaits the first hours or so in the morning, on rocky points, but these are mostly short fish. The jig fish are scattered from 25'-45' deep on main lake points, also the White River from Kimberling City to Campbell Point has been fairly productive, about like the James River. On windy days try throwing spinnerbaits at cedar trees, on main lake and secondary points in 15'-25' of water. A friend of mine who owns a resort said one of his customers having some success on a shad /purple worm, even has managed to catch a few keepers on it. UPPER JAMES RIVER , KING'S RIVER, & LONG CREEK The James River Arm has been the most productive. The upper James you can catch some fish shallow 5'-10' on crank baits on bluff cuts, & channel swings. Try going into the major creeks towards the back where the depth is about 25' and fish a spoon vertically on the standing timber. There is also some fish being caught on spider jigs, football head jigs...1/2 oz-3/4 oz, brown with purple twin tail grub as a trailer or brown with root beer green trailer, also watch for schooling fish. Pete Wenner's Professional Guide Service Sept. 15, 2000 - Table Rock - WATER LEVEL - 909.49 Normal Pool 915' Pool last year on this date: 907.80 DAM AREA, KIMBERLING, BAXTER, CAMPBELL POINT WATER TEMP.79-83 Pretty much the same summer patterns.... Water temperature starting to cool down, topwater bite has been slow but should pick up with this cool down. The most consistent bite on the lake for me has been...deep, out off main points, mainly gravel, 25'-35' deep, on Carolina rigged Chompers, French fries, or finesse worms. Best colors-watermelon w/red flake, and green pumpkin. Also using 3/4 oz. football jigs, brown & black, tipped with Chompers twin tailed or small salt craws. just fish on the bottom real slow. Fish are still suspended out over the trees, but deeper water. They are hanging at about 23'-35' deep, we are using single tail grubs, smoke or salt & pepper, rigged on 1/4 oz. jig head, also using night crawlers if can't get bit on plastic. The bite is light, hard to detect if your not paying close attention! On a few days this week, we found the fish shallower of the sides of mail lake points. Crank baits can be used here. Use a deep diving bait, like a Shad Rap, or Storm's magnum wiggle wart in shad color patterns. Spinner baits beginning to work! Fish windy points, with 1/4 or 3/8 oz. spinner baits, with tandem willow leaf blades. UPPER JAMES RIVER , KING'S RIVER, & LONG CREEK WATER TEMP.
81-84 Not much new....Fish are suspended in the Mid James-Aunts
Creek to Cape Fair boat dock. Fish that the same as the main
lake. The bottom bite is 15'-20' deep. Fish can be caught on
small shallow running crank baits like the Storm wiggle wart,
etc. in shad patterns. Go to the backs of creeks and you will
see that the fish are holding on stumps, isolated tree's and
brush piles. Try flipping 4"-6" worms around the same
structure. Pete
Wenner's Professional Guide Service UPPER JAMES RIVER , KING'S RIVER, & LONG CREEK July 30, 2000 - Roaring River - Trout worms working on most colors, Panther Martin spinning lures, woolly buggers (brown and olive). Water is 72 % it was a little windy but we tied up to the bridge pillar and did fine. Good Luck On The Water Skeeterdriver May 3, 2000 - Truman - Spent Saturday On Truman Crappie slow but catchable. Most were around a Cedertree We found them in 4 to 8 ft. of water on the shallow banks in Little Tebow. Went from tree to tree with a jig and minnow. Took all day but managed a limit. Had a great time. Water was at 61% slight east wind temp in the 70s. See a jig at 2 ft.Never caught fish under 10 In. Mostly males. See you on the water. Skeeterdriver Apr. 13, 2000 - Lake of the Ozarks. Water down and gin clear. Bass hitting on salamanders and white wiggle warts off points and boat docks on North side. Crappie spooky and best very early and very lake on maribu 1/64th oz. jigs. White and green or white and yellow. Fishing from Bagnal Dam to 4 mile marker on North side. Al Mar. 26, 2000 - Truman Basmasters 3 26 00 Great weather nice catches one 4# bass a 2.5 a 2.0 one 1.6 two 1.5 Not to0 bad for six fishermen out of Shawnee Bend Good luck and come join us Call Don Cox at 913 492 7513 for details. Mar. 20, 2000 - Stockton - Lake level low, about 52 degress. Fishing was fair. Most fish caught on a gitzet, few on shad crankbait. Fishing shallow by laydowns. Mar. 12, 2000 - Lake of the Ozarks. Submitted by Brant King - Fishing was a little tough for the most part due to all the cold fronts and cooling temperatures. The rogue bite had been good, but with warming water temps, the bite shifted to wiggle warts and jigs. Although it took 20 pounds to win the Heartland Pro-Am, it was tough to come up with a limit of fish. My pattern for the weekend which turned up a 10.36# 4 fish limit was to find transition banks from steep bluffs to chunk rock that lead into coves and fish very slow with a wiggle wart. Water color decided the color of the wart. Most fish were around the 5 foot depth. The better banks had more sun light on them. Water was a little stained and temps were 48 degrees. lking@altamontks.com March 8, 2000 - Lake of the Ozarks
1 mile marker - Fishing last week around the 1 to
6 mile marker was sparce due to water clarity and the lake being
down. Crappie were very early and very late on small 1/32oz yellow,
and red & white jigs. 6' to 20'. Bass were slow and missing
from action. A good rain would probably help. All Crappie were
heavy with eggs. Catfish did bite on liver and minnows. Jan 23, 2000 - Submitted by Joe (Ozark iceman@aol.com) - Lake of the Ozarks, glaize arm - crappie slow, catfish nonexistant in coves Source: Missouri Anglers like you. Send us a report. |
